Just what the World Needs
Performance Royalties
Moore Books is aware of how expensive royalties are for amateur theatre companies and want to make our plays affordable. On the other hand it is equally important that writers receive reasonable recompense for their work. In light of this, for the majority of full length plays on this site, Moore Books has a sliding scale of royalties. That way if you don’t do well the royalties won’t kill you, but if you do all right then the author is rewarded for his/her writing.
The majority of full length plays on this site will charge the following: a non-refundable deposit of $20.00 per performance against a royalty of 10% of gross ticket sales to a maximum of $90 per performance.

Short Plays (Less than 20 minutes) $25.
This may vary if you are doing an entire evening of short plays from this site. Please ask.
Some plays on this site are published by other companies. (i.e. New Theatre Publications, www.plays4theatre.com) Please apply directly to those companies for rates.
In some cases (i.e where one off performances or readings are taking place or where funds are being raised for charity) variations may be allowed on these rates. Please ask.
PS Just because your company is a not for profit it doesn’t mean we think you are raising funds for charity.
Professional and Co-Op companies should apply directly to the site through our contact page as different royalty rates apply to professional and Co-Op productions.
